Mechanic avoids prison after fraudulent MOTs, having issued 300 false MOT certificates

Mechanic avoids prison after fraudulent MOTs, having issued 300 false MOT certificates

Earlier this week I saw a story from Garage Wire, where an MOT tester had issued over 300 false MOT certificates. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) checked CCTV and confirmed that 14 vehicles were not even present on-site when their MOT pass certificate was issued.

If you are involved in the investigaiton of collisions, whether that be as a driver, a solicitor, a claim management company, this highlights why you always need to keep an open mind to the possibility that one or more vehicles may have a defect which wasn't found on a recent MOT test.

Whilst instances like this will be in the minority, it serves to show that fraudulent MOTs do still take place depsite the best efforts of the authorities.

Where you suspect a vehicle involved in a collision has a defect which has caused or at least contributed to the collision occurring, contact Driven Forensics today and we will foreniscally inspect the vehicle to determine whether your suspicions are justified.
