Nick Brady-Smith - FdSc MIMI AAE MITAI

Nick is an experienced ex-Police senior collision investigator and forensic vehicle examiner, with just under two decades worth of investigative experience gained with West Yorkshire Police. For the last six years of his service, Nick was the lead collision investigator in approximately two hundred investigations, including life-threatening and fatal road traffic collisions, serious and high-profile collisions involving emergency service vehicles and incidents where vehicles have been used as a weapon (including assaults and murder).


An inquisitive and forward-thinking investigator, Nick has a thorough working knowledge of current techniques and practices, gained as a practicing expert. He keeps up to date with industry practices whilst also researching new methods to advance the field of collision investigation. Nick's main interest is in the field of vehicle system forensics, understanding what data is recorded by vehicles and finding new ways to access it.


Nick has experience of preparing evidence for coroners, civil and criminal courts. He holds driving licenses for all major categories of vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, minibuses, buses (passenger service vehicles), truck (large goods vehicles) including those with trailers.


Having left the Police, Nick was employed by TRL, a leading non-profit distributing research organisation as a collision investigation consultant, where he specialised in forensic vehicle examination.


Nick holds a Foundation Degree in Road Forensic Collision Investigation (FdSc), is a full member of the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators (MITAI) and he is a full member of the Institute of the Motor Industry (MIMI) where he is an Advanced Automotive Engineer (AAE).
