Seatbelt inspection
We all know that seatbelts save lives, but some people still choose not to wear one. Would you like to know who was and was not wearing theirs?
Was the seatbelt being worn?
For many of our clients, one key question they want to know, is whether a seatbelt was being worn or not. Historically, we were reliant on physical marks to determine whether a seatbelt was being worn or not. More recently however, we have new methods to assist making that determination.
Physical seatbelt examination
In determining whether a seatbelt was being worn or not, we would always recommend a physical inspection of the seatbelt.
Our forensic vehicle examiner will help to identify any marks on the seatbelt which might indicate whether the seatbelt was being worn or not. It also allows for an opportunity to ensure the seatbelt was capable of being worn.
Digital inspection and evidence
Aside from the physical inspection, modern vehicles often include an event data recorder (EDR) which records whether the seatbelt was clipped in or not.
Our forensic vehicle examiner can image the EDR data and provide analysis of that data. This is part of a thorough forensic vehicle investigation.
