10 reasons tyres are considered illegal
Nick - Driven Forensics • 19 May 2024

What are the 10 most common reasons tyres are found to be illegal?

10 Top reasons tyres are deemed illegal

1.    Insufficient tread,
2.    Cords exposed,
3.    Tyres incorrectly inflated,
4.    Different types of tyre on the same axle,
5.    Incorrect load capacity,
6.    Incorrect speed rating,
7.    Tyres fouling on the vehicle,
8.    There are cuts, lumps and bulges to the tyre,
9.    Tyre is not fitted correctly,
10. Tyre is too old.

In the coming week I will be preparing a series of posts discussing in more detail each of the conditions that might deem a tyre, illegal.

Driven Forensics are specialists in vehicle examination, including the inspection of tyres. Where a defect is discovered, you must then consider what effect, if any, it played in either causing or contributing to a collision should one have occurred.
